EAS-14 EPOXY ADHESIVE SYSTEM

LOOP DETECTOR ADHESIVE/SEALANT

TYPE I - High Viscosity

DESCRIPTION AND USE:

EAS-14 is a two (2) part Epoxy, specially formulated to meet the requirements of embedding traffic density loop detectors and related apparatus in asphalt and concrete roadways. EAS-14 Type I has all the properties of the original EAS-14 system with the added advantage of a rapid cure for minimal traffic disruption. This product can be used as a flexibilized coating for concrete or wooden decks, where traffic is light (no automobiles) and there is no direct sunlight.

Typical properties are outstanding adhesion and excellent resistance to oil, gasoline, hydraulic fluids, salt solutions and most other chemicals.

EAS-14 has built-in flexibility that compensates usual joint movement and vibration and eliminates wire drift to surface.

Because EAS-14 is a chem-o-set material with good physical properties up to 180 F, the possibility of movement of wires to the surface during hot weather is eliminated.

Its medium viscosity is designed to allow for easy pouring yet will minimize runoff at low sides of the cut. Viscosity can be affected by temperature. Cooler material will be thicker, but do not cool below 50 degrees.

EAS-14 can be used on damp (not wet) surfaces and cures  down to 32 F (but beware  properties are reduced, i.e. less impact resistance, more brittle.)

This product has been field tested and approved for use by the State of Oregon D.O.T. Highway Division.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

Surfaces should be clean, solid and free from alkalinity. Surfaces must also be dry. Mix only enough material as to be able to use it within the pot life. Best results will be obtained at surface and material temperatures above 54 F.

PRECAUTIONS:

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In event of contact, wash off skin with soap and water as soon as possible. Wash eyes thoroughly with water and consult a physician. Product contains epoxy resins and organic amines. See MSDS.

SHELF LIFE: Guaranteed one year, when stored in sealed containers at temperatures between 50 - 90 F. Part A subject to crystallization when stored in intermittent or continuous cool temperatures for prolonged periods. May be reconstituted by carefully heating container in hot water (with loose lid).
