EAS-25 EPOXY ADHESIVE/COATING

EAS-25 is a high-impact strength, non-blush (glossy) epoxy adhesive system designed for boat-building and other wood adhesive and coating applications. As can be seen from accompanying test data, compared with competitive boat resins, EAS-25, has many advantageous properties.

For ease of mixing it has a non-critical two (2) to one (1) mix ratio by weight or volume, and cures without surface blush (non tack) even at high humidities and low temperatures.

Its low viscosity enhances good wet-out for glass cloth or wood sealing, and even in thicker layers, a very high impact strength is attained.

EAS-25 has been formulated so that the EAS-25 hardener can be mixed in a one (1) to two (2) ratio with QCM EAS-19 Epoxy Resin (Part A) to give a non-blush coating of high impact strength.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:

For best results, surfaces should be sound, clean, dry and free of alkalinity or acidity. Adequate bonds may be obtained with less than ideal surface preparation, but user must determine suitability.

IMPACT STRENGTHS

Each sample cured at 73 F for 7 cays was subjected to a falling ball (1 pound) impact test until fracture:

                        EAS-19          EAS-25          Resin C          Resin W          Resin S

Sample 1          4' Ibs.              5' Ibs.              5' Ibs.              2' Ibs              6' Ibs.

Sample 2          5' Ibs.              7' Ibs.              8' Ibs.              6' Ibs.             9' lbs.

Each sample cured at 40 F, for 14 days under high humidity conditions was subjected to a falling ball

(1 #) impact test until fracture:

Sample 1          4' Ibs.              5' Ibs.              9' Ibs               5' Ibs.             7' Ibs.

Sample 2          8' Ibs.              5' Ibs               9' Ibs.              5' Ibs              7' Ibs

PRECAUTIONS:

Mix only amount of material as can be used within the pot life. Epoxy materials may be skin-irritating. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. For skin contact, wash thoroughly with soap and water. For eye contact flush immediately with water and consult a physician. EAS-25 contains epoxy resin, cycloaliphatic amines, and modified ethers.

CLEAN-UP:

Uncured epoxy is cleaned off tools and most surfaces with Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK), Toluene, or blends of the two. (CAREFUL! These solvents dissolve may types of plastics.)

SHELF LIFE:

Guaranteed six (6) months when stored in sealed containers at temperatures between 50 - 90 F. Part A subject to crystallization when stored in intermittent cool temperatures for prolonged periods.

* Note 1 - A comparative study of epoxy boat resin systems was carried out using commonly available boat resins.

* Note 2 - Pot Life was measured at 73 F, using the remainder of mixed epoxy after pouring four plugs measuring 2 5/8" Diameter x 3/16" depth.
