ECA 348 HARDENER

ECA-348, is an accelerated aliphatic amine adduct intended for use at room temperature or elevated temperature for curing liquid epoxy resin. Special features of this curing agent include rapid cure at room temperature and excellent resistance to a wide variety of chemicals. It has been used for many years in the production of wakeboards and water-skis.

RECOMMENDED USAGE: 20 parts per 100 parts of liquid epoxy having epoxy equivalent 190.

HANDLING PROPERTIES: Gel Time (150g @ 77deg. F.) 15 mins.

Time to peak exotherm     30 mins.

Peak exotherm (500g @ 77deg. F)     298 deg. F.

Thin film set time (77deg. F.)     3 hours

Set Time (165 deg. F)     8 mins.

PERFORMANCE: Cure i) Heat deflection temp (ASTM D648-264psi) 127 deg. F.

Flexural Strength 8,700 psi

Bond Strength (mild steel/mild steel) 1,880 psi

Cure ii) Heat deflection strength temp. (ASTM D648-264psi) 212 deg.F

Flexural Strength 9400 psi

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE: Excellent against water, aqueous acids, alkaline solutions, detergents, aromatic hydrocarbons, certain chlorinated hydrocarbons; good against denatured alcohol; moderate against ketones and glycol ethers.

APPLICATIONS: Laminates, gel coats, adhesives, small castings and floorings.
