EFC-2 CHEMICAL RESISTANT EPOXY COATING EFC-2 is a two-part epoxy floor coating available in a medium and a low viscosity grade. Both grades are characterized by fast cure, excellent adhesion, pale color and outstanding chemical and water resistance. The medium viscosity grade is suitable for application with two-component spray equipment and the low viscosity grade is more suitable for application by squeegee or roller-coat. A single coat of Grade 2 (low viscosity) can be applied first as a seal coat and then a second coat of either grade 1 or 2 applied as a top coat, depending on the build required. Colored quartz sand can be added to give a non-skid , decorative finish. (normally 6 or 7 parts sand to 1 part mixed epoxy. Also, the product can be put down with solid color {add 6% by epoxy pigment paste to the Part A beforehand - see QCM epoxy pigment price list} ( or call if you require QCM to color your mix ). Lastly, EFC-2 can be put down clear , but beware that scratches and blems from the surface below will show through. F in a can lid. This gave samples 2.25" in diameter and 0.025" thick. Samples were subjected to impact resistance on a solid base would be greater than above measured values because samples are tested in an unsupported state. APPLICATION OF EFC-2: A) Prepare the concrete: (see separate brochure). Surfaces should be clean, solid and free from alkalinity (pH of 5 to 7 prox). EFC-2 can be used on damp (not wet) surfaces and cures well down to 54 deg. F Metals should be cleaned and/or sand blasted to "bright" metal. Long term cure characteristics indicate that cure above 54 deg F, is recommended to give optimum impact resistance. Full cure at 72 deg. F, is 7 days. EFC-2 can be used at temperatures down to 35 deg. F, but only if the customer determines that the lesser properties developed are adequate. B) Mix only enough material as to be able to use within the pot-life. Mix (3) parts of Part A to (1) part of Part B with a drill motor or paint stirrer until thoroughly mixed. In hot weather it may be necessary to cool both parts prior to mixing. REMEMBER, pot-life is greatly reduced with increased temperature; half as long at 90 deg.F, as at 72 deg. F. Larger mixes also have much shorter pot life. It is advisable to transfer the original part A/part B mix to a second container and then give this a second mix- this ensures proper mixing. CAUTION! - DO NOT SCRAPE SIDES OF ORIGINAL MIX CONTAINER ONTO THE FLOOR - this can be like scraping pure epoxy or pure hardener off the side walls and cause uncured areas on the finished floor. C) Apply the epoxy as soon as thoroughly mixed (this gives more working time when spread out on the floor - as opposed to leaving in the mix pot , where it will quickly reach it's pot life and kick off -smoke and boil). Spread with notched squeegee (notched to desired depth) or trowel down if applying a sand grout mix. D) A second coat can be applied if necessary when the first coat is hard enough to walk on (probably 3-4 hrs at 70 deg. F). CLEAN-UP: Clean up tools before epoxy hardens, with MIBK, MEK or other recommended blends. PRECAUTIONS: Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In the event of contact, wash off skin with soap and water as soon as possible. Wash eyes thoroughly with water and consult physician. Product contains epoxy resins and organic amines. SHELF LIFE: One year guaranteed in unopened containers.
